Occasion Cake FAQ
How much notice do you need?
I require a minimum of 2 days notice for celebration cakes, however I do get booked up quickly and it is advisable to book with as much notice as possible to avoid disappointment. I have limited daily capacity and get booked up often weeks or months in advance. Orders can be placed up to 90 days in advance. Once you start your purchase you'll be able to select your required date. If your required date is not there, it means I am fully booked or not accepting orders on this date. This lead time does not apply to wedding cakes (please see below).
Do you cater for corporate events?
Yes! I can cater individual mini cake boxes or large cakes for events of any size. Get in touch to discuss your requirements. Email me if you would like to place a large order or send to multiple addresses.
How should I store my cake?
I provide storage information with all my products as this varies depending on what you order. Cake is always best eaten at room temperature. In summer months or warm environments you should store your cake in the fridge, and remove 30-60 minutes before consumption. In winter, cakes can be stored in a cool. dry location.
Can I personalise my cake?
I do not offer written messages on cakes but can include a handwritten gift card or cake topper with your order. You can add these to your order on the webshop
What is the shelf life of my cake?
All my cakes have a 4 day shelf life from the day of production, but of course cake is always best eaten fresh and I will always encourage you to eat it as such. Aim to collect your cake/have it delivered on the day or day before you intend to consume it. Perishable items such as cut fruits and flowers are only suitable for consumption on the day of production.
Can I choose my cake decoration?
Decoration varies from cake to cake in the styles pictured in the shop page. Every cake is entirely unique. All cakes are decorated with various edibles that compliment the cake flavour, eg. fresh, candied or dehydrated fruit, toasted nuts, chocolate shards, freshly made fudge, meringue pieces, seeds and herbs. You will never see the same cake twice and essentially the design of your cake is a surprise. Each cake is carefully handcrafted and designed by me, for you.
If there’s something you don’t like, you can specify this in your order in the free text section at the end eg. “I don’t like nuts” so i know to avoid using things you may not like.
Wedding Cake FAQs
How do I book you for my Wedding?
Wedding cake orders require a more in depth discussion which can be done in person or via video call. I offer a free consultation to discuss your requirements and designs. Postal tasting boxes are available to purchase which are dispatched quarterly. I’ll need some basic details before we can discuss your requirements - it’s best to fill in the wedding cake enquiry form. I’ll then work with you to create the perfect cake for you and your guests.
To make a booking, a deposit is required to secure your date, with the full balance payable 4 weeks before your wedding.
When should I book my wedding cake?
As soon as possible! I take wedding bookings up to 12 months in advance. You can make enquiries as far in advance as you’d like and secure your date with a deposit up to a year ahead. For summer weddings I get booked up quickly, and it is advisable to book at least 9 months prior.
How much do your wedding cakes cost?
Prices vary depending on your requirements, wedding location, number of people and lots of other detail such as portion size and design, and as such it is difficult to provide up front pricing. I appreciate this can be frustrating, but with a brief description of your requirements and location can help me provide a guide price prior to consultation. There is an indicative wedding cake price guide which can be a helpful start.
Do you make wedding favours?
Yes! I produce a range of beautiful wedding favours, perfect for your guests to eat at the table or take home to enjoy. Examples include handmade: fudge, nougat, marshmallows, sable biscuits, biscotti, mini jam jars, honeycomb, chocolate truffles, nut & seed brittles and mini chocolate brownies individually wrapped in biodegradable packaging and ribbon. Be sure to ask about these in your wedding cake enquiry.
Other FAQs
I have an allergy, what should I do?
You must let me know if you have any allergies or intolerances when you place your cake order. Please note that whilst every care is taken to avoid cross contamination, all products are made in a kitchen where gluten (wheat), egg, milk, tree nuts, peanuts, sesame, soya & sulphites are handled and I am not able to guarantee an allergen free environment. You can ask for a full ingredients list, as I do not provide this unless required. You are responsible for declaring this accurately and reading allergen information provided upon delivery/collection. Please do get in touch to discuss allergies or intolerances in more detail.
Can you cater for gluten free, dairy free and vegan diets?
Yes! I have a selection of options available to order, but if you have specific requirements, the best thing to do isget in touchto discuss dietary requirements in more detail.
How do I pay?
Payment is required in full in advance prior to delivery or collection. You will be required to complete payment via the online shop. For bespoke orders weddings & events, payment information will be emailed to you.
Why don’t you use food colourings and fondant?
I get asked this a lot! I believe that food and ingredients should be unaltered and be as natural as much as possible and that colourings don’t need to be added to make something look beautiful. Whilst you can get excellent natural food colourings these days, I prefer to let fruits and flowers do the work for me and add the colours that you require. Feel free to discuss the best way to achieve colour with me if you require something bespoke. I do not use fondant, as quite simply: I do not think it tastes nice!
